Baja Nights

Baja Nights

Something about just pulling up on a beach and watching the day roll into a moonlit night. These generally aren’t free spots, but family run and tended. We paid $33 to stay here in the ramshackle village of Puertecitos. There are non drinkable water cisterns, electricity for a few hours in the evening, and a restaurant that is apparently great but ran out of food before 5PM. And so it goes. Gotta roll with it down here and that is a major part of the charm. It’s this weird intersection of “everything seems broken” and “everything is just fine” that one must get used to. And the more you are here . . . the more “just fine” it feels.

It’s this weird intersection of “everything seems broken” and “everything is just fine.”
Now: the Southlands
Morning—and southward
Next stop: Twain country
South along the river
One more night in town
And then the plan went sideways
Now turn up the music
Keep driving south
