North Platte River · Casper, Wyoming

Nothin’ in Nowhere

A $15 reset beside the North Platte River.
A $15 reset beside the North Platte River.

And that’s ok. Some stops are just resets. We are on the North Platte River south of Casper, Wyoming, and all’s well. Found a spot by a spillway with a paybox, $15 a night. It’s us and a few guys wading in the water fishing, and that’s about it.

We had plans to pull out the grill and do some cooking but a little wind came up as a front came through and made that less interesting.

Every stop doesn’t need to be a spectacular spectacular.

So a bit of a walk/hike and some reading, retreated into the camper and watched a little TV like we say we never do on the road.

Some days are like that. Just a liminal space, and some down time after a long drive through mountains. Every stop doesn’t need to be a spectacular spectacular.

Feels like Wyoming and that’s all right.

Now: the Southlands
Morning—and southward
Next stop: Twain country
South along the river
One more night in town
And then the plan went sideways
Now turn up the music
Keep driving south
