Marceline, Missouri
Nerd Soup
A family brick, a town with a memory—and the first thick breath of the American Southlands.

If you’ve been following along for any amount of time, you know my Walt Disney nerditude. It’s a thing. The family mostly shares it, if not to the same obsessive trivia level.
Three years ago we came through Walt’s boyhood home of Marceline, Missouri, and enjoyed a couple of days exploring the area. At the time we made a donation to the Walt Disney Hometown Museum that helps with their efforts to preserve the history and beautify the town—and as part of that, got a commemorative family brick in the sidewalk outside.
Hooray, today we visited our brick!

This is a great example of a place being what you make it. A nondescript Midwestern small town that now contains a memory.
Will we ever be back? I don’t know. Depends on where the winds take us. But there we are in the ground for at least a while—and longer than we’ll be here, for sure.

There we are in the ground for at least a while.
It’s a super cool museum, and a folksy little town to visit. Doubtful any of you are gonna put this pin on your map, but you never know. If you do, you’re cordially invited to stop by and see our brick.
The soup part?
Here comes the heat and humidity. Eighty-seven degrees, 89 percent humidity.
Eegads, American Southlands, yer airs r thicck. And this is just the beginning.

Onward to Hannibal
We’re gonna get our Mark Twain on, big time. “Feels like” temperature of 102 tomorrow.

In the soup!
