Other than that, family fishing trip, mountain biking trip to Cuyuna, concerts, gatherings, parties, dog stuff, campfires, hanging out with friends, (multiple “girls trips” for Paula!) you know . . . Life is good kinda stuff.

It’s time to hit the road again, and we are excited to resume our nomadic lifestyle. We are leaving early this year for a few reasons that, in my usual style, I’ll leave unstated for the time being. A lot of you know our plans, but I like to do these posts in the present moment.

For now, the plan is simple—head south. And by that, we mean deep south. We plan to spend significant time in Mississippi and Alabama and continue our tour of civil rights and civil war sites. Last fall we fled that area due to being in the van, and the weather turning nasty, 34 degrees and sleeting and raining. The van is no fun in that sort of weather, and neither is sightseeing. This time around we are probably going to have to deal with heat, humidity, bugs, and probably storms but we have the truck and trailer so will be prepared for such things. (We think.) In addition to some sobering history, we’re hoping for some great BBQ and blues along the way.

First stop tonight will be in the glamorous casino parking lot at Diamond Joe’s at the Iowa border, and then we’ll really know we are back in the saddle again, lol. We fancy.
